Situated in Bombay (Mumbai), one of India’s most unique landmarks is the Gateway of India.

This monument was built in 1924 to welcome King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. Situated in Apollo Bunder in the Colaba district, the gateway overlooks the harbour and the Arabian Sea, marking India’s chief ports and once representing the grandeur of British India. In 1947, the last horde of British troops left India through this gateway. The smells of street food drift across the gateway and tourists flock to see this magnificent monument; there is never a shortage of vibrant colours on display.
