Tracing the Hassett line so far has reached seven generations to [first name unknown] Hassett who would have been born in the early part of the 19th century and was father of William Hassett (The search continues for generation eight). William married Isabella De Silva on 8 November 1854. William and Isabella had a son, William, born on 23 September 1855 and another son James, born on 4 July 1863 (one of the first records found by the Anglo-Indian Project). 

William and Isabella’s second son, John, was born in 1859:

His baptism record reveals:

  1. Baptism place: Poona
  2. Baptism date: 2 January 1860
  3. Birth date: 7 December 1859
  4. Parents names: William and Isabella Hassett
  5. Abode of parents: Poona
  6. Profession of father: G.L.O. Railway Guard

Confirming John’s birth date as 7 December 1859 and his parents as William and Isabella Hassett. His baptism took place in Poona and the baptism record confirms John’s parents abode (in 1860) as Poona, and his father, William’s, occupation as G.L.O. Railway Guard.

John is the second son of William and Isabella Hassett to be found so far. No other records of John have been discovered, yet. The search continues.
