Searching the records of Hassett’s has so far revealed eight children of James and Martha Hassett, born between June 1887 and August 1906 – four boys, four girls. The next child born was their third son, and sixth child overall, David Vincent Hassett (1896-1941). As his records have been covered previously they won’t be presented again here.
The youngest son found so far is Hubert Earle Hassett, born on 1st December 1899:
Her baptism record reveals:
- Birth date: 1st December 1899
- Baptism date: 4th April 1914
- Baptism location: Christ Church, Byculla
- Name: Hubert Earle Hassett
- Parents: James and Martha Hassett
- Parents abode: Bhusaval
- Fathers occupation: Driver GIP Retired
- Priest performing ceremony: R.G.V. Hodge. Chaplain.
As with his sister, Muriel Isabel, Hubert was not baptised close to his birth date. Instead, his baptism took place when he was fourteen years old. This practice of getting baptised at an older age (rather than close to the date of birth) has been highlighted previously – with Hubert’s brother, David Vincent, also being baptised at an older age. Hubert’s baptism record confirms his parents names – James and Martha Hassett, parents abode – Bhusaval, and father’s occupation – Driver GIP Retired.
Hubert is the youngest son, and seventh child, of James and Martha Hassett to be found so far. No other records of Hubert Earle have been discovered, yet. The search continues.
