Today the AIP #WednesdayWisdom series continues with the children of Samuel Carey Gordon and Emma Violet Gordon (nee Astridge). This post presents the third baptism record discovered: Florence Elfrida Andrewetta Gordon (1905).

Samuel Carey Gordon and Emma Violet Astridge were married in 1895. A number of records have been discovered, suggesting that they had many children. Some of these records require further validation, but the third child discovered, using the various available resources, is Florence Elfrida Andrewetta Gordon (1905).
Florence was born on 30 November 1905:

- Name: Florence Elfrida Andrewetta Gordon
- Parents: Samuel Carey Gordon and Emma Violet Gordon
- Parents abode: Agra
- Fathers occupation: Assistant Master, St Georges High School
- Priest performing ceremony: W. Losimes, W. Kitching Chaplain
Florence’s baptism record revealed that she was born on 30 November 1905 and baptised two weeks later on 15 December 1905 at St Georges Church, Agra, India. The ceremony was performed by W. Losimes, W. Kitching Chaplain. Her parents, confirmed as Samuel Carey Gordon and Emma Violet Gordon, resided in Agra, India, with Samuel’s profession stated as Assistant Master, St Georges High School; this matches the previous records discovered about Samuel including the baptism records of his children with Annie Gordon (1862-1894). This record indicates a possible return to Agra by Samuel following previous records which stated his abode as Agra (see burial record of Samuel’s wife Annie Gordon (1862-1894) and the baptism record of his daughter Alice Irine Gordon (1893)) and Simla (see the baptism record of his daughter Gertrude Eveline Muriel Gordon (1896)).
Florence is the third child of Samuel and Emma to be discovered (although as previous posts, the gap from the second child – Violet Mary Gordon (1900) – there may be others in between. There are certainly more to follow.
